I went to New Orleans for New Years 2001 & the Sugar Bowl (Gators vs 'Canes) with Jen, Ben and Josh. We drove up Saturday, December 30, 2000 and arrived late at our hotel in time for dinner at the grossest mexican restaurant and sleep!
Sunday, new years eve, we ate brunch of benguit's (some French pastry kinda like an elephant ear) and coffee at Cafe DuMonde and wandered around in the French Quarter and up & down Bourbon Street. We had dinner with Jen's parents in the French Quarter and then walked over to Bourbon Street again. After wandering Bourbon, we walked to the riverfront to watch the fireworks go off and ring in the new year! It was so amazing and gorgeous!
Monday, new years day, we went to the Aquarium, the French market (a cute, HUGE flea market type of thing), rode on the trolley cars, went to the Riverwalk mall and back to Bourbon Street again. We went to Harrah's casino for a little while and the guys gambled while Jen and I sat at the bar and people-watched.
Tuesday, game day, we went on a Graveyard tour. Sounds weird, but it was cool! We went through the French Quarter and ended up at a graveyard full of history on the outskirts. Met with a real witch doctor and then met Jen's parents at the Marriott prior to the game. We had dinner at the cafe inside the Marriott then took cabs to the GAME!
